I carry a soldering iron in my tool box as well, but I'd prefer not to use it, since I can think of nothing worse than trying to solder under dim lighting during a set break. I carry enough spare patch leads, mic leads, speaker leads and adapters for my PA that I've never had to use the soldering iron at a gig. Also, I always take 2 basses in case something unexpected happens. I haven't broken a string on a bass since the 80s (when I played with a pick sometimes), but it pays to be prepared, as the boy scouts used to say.thats so awsome haha, u carry around an emergency soldering iron?

Exactly mark you don't know what happens at a gig so you have to be prepared for everything
I too take 2 guitars to a gig!!!
I always have strings, a screwdriver, pliers, batteries, an extra strap and an extra bass at every gig.
Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.
