Mike , it seems like the Bass Gods have heard your prayers.... Any of these could have come right out of your collection!

I'm really pleased to see this "affordable" thinking in the planning stage. Thank-you for considering this. Nothing hurts more than seeing a vintage/retro - re-issue that you really would like to own only to find out that the price is in the "exclusive collector only" category (ie: very expensive). I really hope these won't be "exclusively" priced.
I find it amazing that I can play all the wrong notes with such incredible accuracy.......

Hinged battery compartment is the way to go, whether it's plastic, metal, carbon fibre or compressed Weeties. I like being able to pull a battery in a few seconds to do a tongue test before a gig rather than taking out two screws with a screwdriver.

Never had a battery failure. I always made a habit of changing the batteries twice a year.

I like the idea of the chrome battery cover. I'd suggest that the screw holding it in place have a regular slot in it rather than philips design. The slot should be wide enough to accomodate the thickness of a dime which could be used to loosen and tighten the screw. Everybody carries a dime in their pocket. But if you don't, i'm sure a fellow band mate will have one.

    Just a thought.

Yeah I like the chrome battery covers

and on a side note hopefully the mute assemblies will be available as spare parts so any missing on your Pre-EB can be replaced and not pay E-bay prices!!!

Good on you BP but please don't bring out reliced basses - my pet hate!!!

I'd buy one, as long as they look NOS and not relic... Maybe a fretless?
