I used to, all the time, before I started playing fivers.
Pros:Simple installation, and taken care of it works flawlessly.
Cons: To me it really messed up my playing, as no notes were where they should be, but I hear a lot of guys have zero problems with that.
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

I have one one all of my 4 stringers. The biggest downer with the MM style Hipshot, is the string post is straight-sided, like a F tuner, and not tapered like the normal EBMM tuners. Some might be able to accept a different looking string post, some may not.....
I play a lot of stuff drop D as it is, just tune back and forth. ITs not that hard to tune the E string real fast, but thought if the Xtender worked well, it might be kinda cool to just flick a lever. I don't think I could get used to the tuner being at a different angle though.

I too have D-tuners on all of my 4-string basses. Have used them for many, many years. Love them. Have never had any problems what so ever through the years.....

I have no fist hand experience but i dont think you understand what he means, i think hes saying the post its self is different, as in the thing you wrap your string around?
here read this http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...ders-gold.html i think they say you can now get identical posts..

trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!
Thanks for the help guys.

Like you said already, if your use to going back and forth for songs, it becomes second nature and is just as quick to retune or flick a lever.
Music is food for the soul...And i'm hungry.
I use one all of the time. I have gotten to the point where it would be hard to imagine not having one. No issues ever, takes so little time to get used to having, works as advertised. It is more difficult to restring, but not really hard to do. I will not go without on any bass !! Hipshot makes top notch products, quality , fit, finish, durabilty.....kind of reminds me of another company I really love!
Instead of ordering a new string post from Hipshot, you can disassemble your original MM tuner and use the same string post on your Hipshot. Very easy to do and very easy to reverse. I have this done on my 30th Stingray and will probably end up getting one for my Big AL also. JOSH
