2 Band H vs 3 Band HH Stingray

Hello all, long time lurker first time post.

Its about time I got me a Stingray and I have narrowed it down to these 2. Finding a shop that stocks both near me is not easy so an A/B tryout is out of the question (still lookingasking tho).

I have heard that the 2 band model has more low end than than the 3 band, but does the extra pup on the HH even the score out, or would it create more thump?

I play a lot of Two Tone Ska so like a big warm round sound.

Any info would be greatfully received. Thanks in advance.

P.s. it is gonna be Black 'n' Maple whatever it is.

    Thaks in advance

    Raggy

Any StingRay will be able to deliver the thump you want and then some more... the question is what else do you want from your bass?

    A) The single H 2 band EQ will give you the classic StingRay tone with limited equalization.

    B) The HH 3 band EQ will give you the classic StingRay tone, four other useful sounds and very versatile equalization.

I love my HH. And my 2 band single H is for sale...
    Have bass. Will play.

I am really going to have to find out a dealer that stocks both versions. It would be good to have the versatile EQ.

The H model is like having a smokin' girlfriend. The HH model is like having said smokin' girlfriend with an equally hot sister.

I currently have the classic Ray, but have also owned the HH.

The HH's neck p'up thickens the Ray sound nicely...seems to fill the room more.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but . . . is the bridge pickup on the HH Stingray in the same spot as the pickup on the H model?

I'm assuming that it is and therefore should sound the same with just that one pickup.

Or alternatively try and find a used 30th sr4, those are the best sr4s ever.

I have both H and HH, just two different flavors. The H is a stingray and the HH a sterling.
I love the tone of both, the SR with the single H gives me plenty of slap room while the Sterling fills the tonal pallet.

I've found the neck pick up soloed on my SR4HH is great for UB40 type reggae - there's sure to be a good sound for ska in there. Try one if you can find one - not sure where you are in UK but Andertons had one recently - I used it to try some Markbass - they had a BFR Stingray also..........
