Why don't you all just become "guitar" players and then we can just chat over tea.

I have been known to swing both ways (only between guitar and bass, left handed one minute, right handed the next, that is)

I had a significant preference for passive electronnics in electric basses before picking up a Bongo. I had also thought about how nice it would be to have a passive Stingray with a Sterling neck profile - it seemed like it would have been an ideal config for me at that time. The Bongo was a complete reset for me and I havent played anything else since acquiring my first Bongo 4 years ago. The electronics made sense to me straight away and I found the tones from this actiive only bass exhibited all of tthe qualities I'd come to associate with passive electronics. The Bongo basiically turned everything electric bass right-side up for me. I'm not suggesting that this would be ideal for the OP, just offerinng another perspective on the discussion topic.

You know BP, I don't think we really got a whole lot of good photos of that gold/RW Bongo, which is a shame since that has got to be one hot looking bass. Please?

I can't believe I read this entire discussion. It was interesting to say the least. Seems to me like EBMM has a heck of a lot to offer and covers alot of bases with their products and the innovation has been coming out of there like a group of mad scientists. It really is fun to watch and be a part of in some small way.

Good luck in finding your perfect instrument.

I think it was great too...the most important part was discovering that Benjamin isnt in the market for new basses due to financial issues. Ben you should have said "I cant buy one now no matter what you make, but if I could here is why I dont"

I can't believe I read it either. IMHO EB has made big improvements as far as the origional MM SR. Almost a full circle. From great technical feats as the 25th, The Bongo and Big Al. Then back to it's roots with the up and coming Classic.

MM was born an active bass and IMO should stay that way.
