    stingray 5 low B

had to play "boys of summer" last night and the singer dropped the key so i got to hit the low b and leave it hanging for 2 bars.....its a beautiful thing siting back with the guitar, vocals, keys and drums all playing and the low b just sitting there in the mix, small bass boost with the mid in the centre position and just a tad of treb
i never played the song before but there is a really nice bass line there.less is more vibe.we also did hit me with your rythm stick,2 very different bass line

i just love my sr5 to bits a big thanks again to BP for making such a fine fine bass.I still plan on getting a 25th HSS just as soon as they hit Irish soil but i will always love my SR5

That's my EQ as well. What position do you have the switch in? I generally favor series for getting maximum low end presence... though I've also spent years at a time with the switch in the other two positions.

The low B is what sold me on the SR5. When I was trying it out the salesman actually encouraged me to turn up the amp and hit it so he could feel the whole place shake. Happy to oblige...

Same here. The low B is the thing that got me into a Stingray. Now I am playing / re-arranging other songs with B string notes added just to feel the stage shake.
I've seen a million basses, and I rocked them all!
Currently rocking with Shakedown, exclusively on a 2008 Candy Red Bongo.

Since so many songs are in the of A, try tuning the B string to A. Wait until you see the look on peoples faces when you play a low A and let it sustain.

There's this worship song that we play at church where I get to sustain the open B for four beats in the chorus. With three large subs it really shakes the house! Would be surprised if it showed up on a few seismometers.

Sorry for hijacking this, but what string gauge do you use for the b? For me the factory standart (super slinkys?) have not enough tension..

The factory set is Regular Slinkys with a .130 B string. This is what I use and the B string has plenty of tension. Super Slinkys are thinner, the B string is .125 and thus would have less tension. Personally I never go with less than a .130 B.

The bass line for "Boys of Summer" is a great one I agree. I love the bass fill, it is a very fun little line and always gets attention. A fretless with piezo is what I usually play it with.

My B string is a .135, because we tune down a half step and I wanted as much tension as I could get. I got it.

ROFL!!! Maybe it's just late, but I can't stop laughing at this! I'm trying to imagine what that look would be. I'm going to tune down NOW and find a mirror!

This would nail "that tone" pretty well.
