I voted HS, as it's the only combination that I've got...

I seem to keep buying HH's... however, I still think the StingRay HS has some interesting tones in there, and the Bongo HS recordings I've heard were very convincing. Also, I think it depends a lot on whether the coils are switched or mixed. Another whole different animal is the 25th HH with preamp that allows the parallel/serial switching (utmost useful option!), and naturally the HSS and the SSS on the Big Al.

@spencer: I've made similar experiences with the StingRay HS - the volume was all over the place when swiching, and I didn't feel confident with all positions. But the HH is very consistent in volume. You get 5 different sounds /characters out of the bass (of which I use 3 regularly in the band sound). And that bridge single H is still always there.
    Have bass. Will play.

The HH can shear the head right off of guitarists and drummers.

The Single H is the boss of all of them.

A single H bongo 6 is capable of stopping hearts for any who aren't shielded from it.

Who needs the extra weight hanging on their shoulder when a single H is capable of all that?

    imho

Single H all the way...It's hard to mess with the original.

Think regular Coca Cola vs New Coke or Coke Zero. You get the idea.

My next EBMM is going to be a single H.
I have found that I almost always solo the bridge pup on my HH lately.
I just love that crisp, gritty snarl. If I need thump and boom, I just adjust my right hand.

I prefer the single H as well. I can dig in near the bridge and get some nice attack. Or play below the neck for the low end thump, plus it leaves plenty of slap room.

On a Bongo I prefer the HH, though my single H is a mighty fine bass too
On a Stingray 5, the single H is the **** though, can't argue with the de facto standard 5 string.
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

    Stingray 5 Classic, coral red
Bongo 5 H, Dargie Delight, in some cave somewhere...
Bongo 5 HH, Black w/ rosewood neck

I go for Single H just as it works better for me when I play with a pick, but I do love the power of HH though, close call but H just shaves it.
