I personally like the Neck and Center together, either active or passive. Or bridge and neck active with a bit-o-EQ. If I want super punch I go bridge and center with bass and low-mid boosted.... that can injur things.

Matt, I have not been using the humbucker in series mode, primarily due to the volume boost. We run stage amps at a fairly low volume, then everything goes through the PA. I like the fact that the relative volumes are consistent between all the other pickup combinations except the series mode. That removes a variable for me when switching settings, so I don't have to worry about dialing back the volume at any point.
