Just an observation, but the newer headstock appears slightly wider on the G side - note the logo relative to the strings and the positioning of the G peg. It is not a straight run from the peg to the nut on the old one and the post straightens the string. Also, access to the truss rod is from the headstock and if the post were centered like the new one, it might impede the wrench necessary to adjust the rod. But this is just based on the photo.

He is not the typical sound guy, he is very good at what he does and I pay attention to what he thinks...He told me that all I need to do is get another one just like it with a Rosewood board and put flats on it and call it a day....
