I did the process on a stripped 7ender neck but did 2 coats per the bottle and followed up with the wax.

The end result rocks!

Don't sweat it if you left it on too long. The bottle directs you to buff it after curing with 00 steel wool.

I would do this again in a blink to refin a crapped up neck.

Can you give me the exact product names of the oil and the wax please? Its pretty hard to get gunstockoil over here in germany as here is so little need for its common use.

Yeah, I had to use the Steel wool on one of 'em. After the wax, my bass is a smooth as could be!!

That's it. Also get the Birchwood Casey Wax. After you clean the neck with murphys oil soap(or something similar), rub some oil on evenly up and down the neck, leave it for 5-10 minutes, wipe it off. Then do the same with the wax.

The oil and wax treatment makes an unfinished neck smooth and slick - probably the best "mod" for an EBMM bass!

Gunstock oil/wax on the back of the neck. NEVER on the fretboard irregardless of the type of fretboard.

My bottle of lemon oil says that it is for rosewood only, NOT maple. So lemon oil for rosewood only.

I have used just a bit of guitar Gibson guitar cleaner on my maple fretboard. I just spray a bit on a cloth and wipe the fretboard. I think thats ok. Can anyone confirm?

Can't speak for what should be done to an EBMM neck.

Mine was a trashed 7ender that the poly was flaking off everywhere. I removed it all, sanded, cleaned, then applied 2 coats per the bottle to the backside and one to the front. Tried to avoid getting it on the frets as best I could.

It really brought out the grain in the wood.Granted these are not pics of an EBMM product but this is the only bass I have done this to. The feel of this finish is akin to the EBMM basses now.

The steel wool also comes in 0000 (finest).

Alternatively, after the oil/wax and anytime the wood feels like it needs it, I like to use some 1500 grit sandpaper sparingly a few of times a year. 1500 is really fine, no worry about removing too much wood if you sand lightly. Feels super smooth afterward!

Sounds fine for what it is but isn't my #1 choice.

Only reason I bring it up is the oil and wax finish combo, done by the bottle instructions, will yield a different but still great result. It won't ruin the thing.
