    Finally got my piezo-Ray.

Okay guys, here it is... It used to belong to cd_david, so some of you will have seen this one around before, usually with a black pearl scratch guard installed...

    Hey!

    Its Gareth/Musicman20 here off basschat.

Thats one stunner of a Ray.

I have a Natural Ray with the same guard, except no piezo. Stingrays look great in Natural.

    How does it play?

Ive never played a Piezo Ray before....what kind of sound does it add?

I've said it before but...that's beautiful!

Nice score. Glad you finally got a 'proper' ray!

    Hi Gareth,

The piezo itself when blended in 50/50 gives the bass a sort of 3d sound & when used in isolation, if you play up at the end of the fingerboard, there's a more than passable upright style sound available as well. Very versatile instrument. I actually used it on a jazz gig on Sunday & the sound went down very well with the pianist and the engineer.

    Beautiful musical instrument!

Glad to have jazz musicians around!

I always wanted to study on jazz academy, but I miss, now I'm hackneyed sound man who plays bass time after time on some gigs ...etc!

Yes, I think it is a one-piece body. I can't see a join on it anywhere. Possibly one of the reasons it has immense sustain! The other reason I bought this particular bass (apart from the amazing condition for a 2000 instrument & the piezo) was that the previous owner had a luthier lacquer the neck in satin lacquer. Much better than those nasty half-finished sanded ones

That is a sweet bass. I've gotten to play a HSP Bongo with Piezo (should have bought it) but not a ray.
