Help: Earthwood bass adjustment

Hello all,
Tried the general discussion but it was suggested I tried here...

Hoping to get some help with my Earthwood bass. It is a 6" body made in late 1982. I just had a small crack repaired and want to lower the action. I have the wrench but it does not seem to do anything. I have the instructions to loosen the main screw but there is no referance to how many turns to lower or raise the neck. I dont want to break it. Also the adjustment wrench only goes in an inch or so and I cannot feel it engage in a screw, or it turns very easily. Possibly a fine thread?
Also not sure how to best set up a fretless. I like my fretted set up on the lower side and it seems this is kind of high at just under 1/4" at the end of the fretboard.
Appreciate any input into maintaining this awesome instrument,

Well I couldn't stand not knowing any more. Broke down and took it apart to see how she works.
Things were defenetly a little out of whack.
Anyone wants any advice or pictures of how this amazing instrument works let me know and I will be glad to share what I have found.
As for set up it would seem that fretless should be able to be set up pretty low but on the contrary it really buzzez in spots and I have had to raise it up a bit.

You're definitely one of the few Earthwood owners here.

Or, well, anywhere, for that matter.

During the week, you might get some input from someone at the company...but only a few guys there were around for the Earthwoods. Rare beasts, indeed.

Thinking about it last night Ernie Ball was a brilliant man for developing this bass. It has created quite a fervor and I know for myself exposed me to a company that creates basses and guitars in the USA!
I have found myself in search of a Stingray and going back to my original statement even if someone isn't lucky enough or rich enough to possess an Earthwood it will certainly open their eyes to the company, quality instruments and from everything I have read a really cool group of people.

Looking forward to owning some electric basses. Found a trans green stingray with matching headstock on craigslist for 700 but cant hook up with the seller...

Will put up pictures and what I have found on Earthwood adjustment later.

For anyone that's interested here are pictures.
The adjustment wrench slides in pretty far, only 2" once it engages. Dosen't take much to make an adjustment. I found you can raise the action under pressure of the strings as recommended in the manual but to lower it the string tension should be slackened.
I also found the nut in the neck was full of compressed sawdust and the bolt could not thread in properly. Good thing to take it apart and check the threads and clean it up.
Another thing the neck should pull directly up and away from the body, not slid back away from the body as I messed up the binding a bit. Very tight fit!
Amazing bass, had to be a labor of love!
