    I believe slab bodied means no contours.
    So it is flat on top and a flat back...a slab

    Slab body means it doesnt have the beer-belly cut out in the back of the body or the forearm bevel on the top-front of the body. The old pre ernie ball Musicman basses and old old fenders had slab bodies.

    Let me just say, there was a black one at NAMM that I played that had just an awesome sound. I was blown away. I did not get to the sunburst as it always had a crowd around it. They sound killer though, absolutely killer!

    I thought I was going to be OK with the classic series because there were no fivers.
    Not only are they fivers, they are fives with the round pickguard like I have always wanted!! IN WHITE? Dammit. Organs will be sold.
    I've seen a million basses, and I rocked them all!
    Currently rocking with Shakedown, exclusively on a 2008 Candy Red Bongo.
