    25th Anniversay Bass - Detuners?

Did any you owners of 25th Anniversary 4-string Basses install a detuner (like a hipshot bass extender)?

I'm asking because I don't want to drop the money on one of these awesome looking basses just to find out I can't get a detuner to fit, I have to use a drop-D detuner in the cover band I play in for some of our songs (and I don't have time to do this the old-fashioned way).

I was going to say, with my 5th string I wouldn't need to detune Jack***.

wow. you guys are just as smarta$$ed as me. i almost feel bad for my bandmates, almost. but in all seriousness, i have a lovely 5-string, however i play a lot of 4-string music very quickly, and at least 20% of it needs an open D string. when i switch tunings i do it between measures as we tend to transition most of our songs in a set without stopping so there is no time to tune. i also prefer to play 4 string for gigs as it requires less concentration and i can play faster.

so anyone know if a standard detuner even exists for the 25th anniversary?

no worries. i personally don't care much for keeping instruments in pristine collectable status. i'd rather customize them and play the snot out of them. the 25th anniversary bass i played in the store a few days ago seemed so nice i would make it my daily gigging bass.

i did have some reservations about the plastic knobs, they seemed cheap. the bass in the store (guitar center) was already beat up and the knob shafts had bent.

I do confirm the control knobs are not plastic but solid steel, the pickup buttons on the other hand are plastic but they are very durable, well I have been switching the "snot out of them" since the last 2 months and no problem at all.

Heck even the back control cavity cover is metal!

    whatchu talkin' about willis?

or perhaps even aluminium, or aluminum;-)

I think the 25:th will accept a normal GB7-type d-tunder, and sinnce it's no drilling or anything involved I'd hardly even call it modding...
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

    Stingray 5 Classic, coral red
Bongo 5 H, Dargie Delight, in some cave somewhere...
Bongo 5 HH, Black w/ rosewood neck
Heinz The Wonder Bass, going back to Jack...
