    Knob swap...

Heheh, I giggled when I typed that thread title...

Anyhow, I swapped out the pickguard on my 'Ray from the black to a sweet white pearl I got from EBMM directly (love the customer service! Top notch job fellas!) Problem is this: I swapped out the black knobs for chrome ones (same deal) but I can't get a couple of them to sit correctly. Before, all the black ones were the same height off the pg, now two of the chrome ones (on the ends) sit about 3mm above the center two. The knobs are all the same as are the posts.

What did I do wrong? Any tips?

I'll post picks of the black cherryburst with the pearl guard (Drool!) I also picked up a dark abalone pg (last one they had! I'm liable to hang that one as art...) but didn't think that combo was too hot.

I did... best I can figure is I'm hanging up on the little indent that the original knob left on the post.

Perhaps a small file to the inside...

    Don't file anything!

The knobs don't sit all the way down on the posts. Just pull up the ones that are too far down and tighten the set screw.

There is a plastic spacer that sits on each pot shaft under the pickguard. You should check to see (by removing the p/g) that the spacers are positioned properly. If they aren't, the knobs won't sit correctly on the shafts.

Been there, done it. Now I know.
