when i went to pick up my 25th

    The sales guy said

"hi Dave, come on in i was just about to do a set up on your new bass for you, give me 10 mins and i will give a quick tweak"

my answer was along the lines of

"Nnnnnnnooooooooooo, step away from that bass and put down the wrench !!"

I would have been a bit pissed had he "tweaked" it

and this marks my 1000 post!

I am in agreement with Dave, a new bass of this quality should not be interfered unless some setup faux pas occurred during transportation. Besides, we all know that EBMM basses are easy to setup by yourself. So Dave did your bass play well straight out of the box?

The only issue I had was with the single coils rocking from side to side see this thread ( http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...-required.html ) which I soon fixed with some thin strips of foam lowered in the base of the pickups. Except for that, the saddles height and intonation and even the trussrod are still as per factory set up. Remember the post I did in relation to allow it to climatize? Well I was right, because the bass was almost frozen when I picked it up and the neck obviously felt the temp change but after leaving out for 24 hours in my living room at ideal temp it returned to the intended position and it's being playing wonderfully ever since.

    See also this: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...xperience.html

The moral of the story is, the quality of manufacturing and setup these instruments are shipped with is way above standard, you can always be sure that a MusicMan bass can be safely bought sight unseen. I am on my 4th now...

Haha unless you're me And you try and tweak something other than the neck...

However I am a girl and blonde and my stupidity is by no means a reflection on BPs wonderful instruments!

I just about touch the tuners now (well and the strings) and leave the rest well alone Serves me well

Note to self - keep away from the saddles!

BTW Dave, congrats on the new toy

Congratulations to your 25th and to have been able to get it before they messed up the factory set up. Although most of my basses now are custom set up, I do like to play the instrument with the original set up first.
    Have bass. Will play.

cheers guys,i am just amazed by this bass i will take some more shots asap !!

the only thing i have touched on it is the trust rod.i gave it a bit of a tighten as i find i am playing this bass far softer than i normally would so i can afford to have the action a bit lower.Apart from that i aint going to touch a thing ! its perfect in every way.

i think i am going to keep my eye out for a 4 string model in the second hand market if i ever find one
