New Bass Day - Classic Content

Just got home from the shop with this beauty. Had no intention of getting one today and didn't even know the dealer had one in stock, and today was a BIG sale there. I have a major birthday coming up (50) and the price was too good to pass this up. Shown in one shot next to its sibling, a '77.

Apologies for the quick snaps, but you can see the goodness.

To say I am gobsmacked by my latest acquisition is an understatement. I knew within seconds of playing it that it was going to be mine.

    awwwwwwww... twins!

Damn! They look pretty close! a little more black in the burst of the '77, and some beautiful figure going on with the fretboard and neck of the Classic! Two beautiful basses you got there! Congrats!

As well as being mighty purdy, this Stingray is the nicest overall of the three that I own. The finish is of course flawless and although I don't own scales, the weight is just right - lighter by a country mile than the '77 and also the '91 by a significant margin. It also has that magic 2 band tone.

The guitar player from my band happened to be in the store when I was trying it out, and described the tone as "awesome". When I commented that I just had to have it, he recalled the time he let a vintage JMP Marshall get away because he hesitated, and that he still has regrets about missing out on that amp.
