Where does this wire go? Bongo 4HH

Hello all - I coulda swore I had signed up to the EBMM forum when I got my Bongo this April (got a sweet deal on craigslist - $650!! for a Bongo 4HH!). Anyway, I took the back off to look at the electronics and found what looks like a bare grounding wire just hanging around by itself. I am thinking it might go on the input jack (sleeve maybe?). Can somebody let me know where I should solder this wire?

    Thanks!

That actually goes into one of the holes your screws go into for the back plate. It's probably the same one shown in the picture. I recently had to contact Customer Service for my Bongo due to a very minor issue and I think it was AJ that I spoke to. Anyway, he walked me through the fix on my problem but I noticed that when I took the back plate off, that wire was actually going into the screw hole and just laying there. If you need to, tonight when I get home from work, I can post a picture of mine and show you. I am leaving for work right now otherwise I would do it now.

Congrats on the Bongo find too. Sounds like you got one heck of a deal!

    Hi Art,

    Remember no pics=no bass

So don't forget to post a photo of your Bongo

    Congrats and welcome.

What Jay said. Its a ground wire that is supposed to touch the back plate. As long as it is touching the metal of the plate, you'll be golden. As Jay said, best way to do this is to wrap a screw or sandwich it, but I've also seen it just extending out so it touches the plate in the middle of the cavity, less desireable (because it could bounce away from contact temporarily with motion), but absolutely functional.

    Another pic...

Thanks for the replies - I was aware that the one end goes to the screw hole on the back plate - I need to know where the other end goes - here's another pic...

And a full body shot... (as you can see, my other bass has been kicked off the guitar stand!)

    Thanks again, guys!

I'll take the back plate off of my DDII Bongo and see where it goes and post the pic.

    Here are the pics.

Here is a close up. It shows the other end of the wire connects to the input jack by being soldered onto it.

    Thanks

Looks like it's soldered to the sleeve - thanks for the help, JayDawg!
