this a random question...but where did the music man logo/symbol thing come from (the two guys with the guitars) is it just two guys with guitars or is there something else going on there?

They used to be holding AK47's but they figured since they make guitars/basses and not rifles it would make more sense if they held guitars.

Also, they used to make a bass called the 'AK' which slogan was "Enough punch to blow a whole - In your fans!"![]()
as you can see it on Rod's sticky webpage (great pages, thanks Rod), in the past, the legs of the 2 guys were forming a M (for Musicman). On the current basses, they lost there legs, so you can't figure out that signification of those legless boys.
As Andrew pointed out, the guitars make more sense as an AK 47 or a vaacum cleaner...
If Warwick want's to do the same, they'll have to engage contortionists.

I've always thought the original logo was an abstract of 60s/70s Band the "KINKS".
I was either told or maybe read it some where. I could be completely wrong.
That being said....all I can remember about the Bass player is that he played a Rickenbacker and a rare slab 1966 Fender P Bass.
.
i always kind of thought they looked alittle like mobsters holding guns or something the way they have the pinstriped pants and the way they're holding their instruments and i really dont see how anybody could play a guitar/bass the way either of them are holding it...maybe kind of the one on the right...but yeah they just seemed like they were supposed to be suggesting holding guns to me. but that just shows that i'm a child of my generation i guess![]()
Since one is a lefty, I always thought it was Lennon and McCartney![]()
I think there's been more thinking about this than it deserves.![]()
Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.

probably
I thought one of them might be Clapton, since he was an early endorser of MM amps.
And God knows he had bellbottoms.
I'm hedging my bet on Lennon and Mccartney.

BUT - how does that tie-in with the name - Stingray?
It don't![]()

The body, the tail(neck) and the sting(headstock). Perhaps that is why the headstock has a sharp edge like a sting unlike fenders.
