'ray/Sabre bastard (trade Sabreneck for Stingray?)

I have a -77 Stingray body with a defretted -79 Sabreneck (3-hole). Its been refinished at some point in a not so good way. The paint looks like someone bought any spraycan of black paint at a supermarket.

    My grandma checking the volume..

..a little closer. I have one of the stamp as well but gotta dig for it.. will add later.

The neck is stamped aug -79 if memory serves and from the beginning its maple but has been "luthiered" with a layer of RW on top. The fretmarkings on the side have been "repositioned".. kinda. Anyhow it plays and feels very good but Im thinking somewhere there might be another one the other way around (Sabre/'ray). Would feel right to trade the Sabreneck for a -70ish Stingrayneck. Best would be a fretless or RW.

No biggie but if the knucklehead-collective know of someone in the same/opposite situation..

    advTHXance!

Did I embarass myself "playing" this bass when we had the Bongo-meet?
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

..and it was your idea to make a little note here that I have a MM bastard - two parts looking for their real mate.

    Cheers!
