    Incoming

So I shipped off my Dargie 5 yesterday and had been seriously contemplating a Big Al or a Reflex when low and behold a new 25th HSS fell into my lap (ok, it isn't here yet but will be soon enough) GC had a new one sitting around and marked down LOW... then I got this 15% off coupon to use with it... all I can say is it was cheap... not quite what I had in mind when I was getting a new gigging bass but it will work Can't wait to get my hands on this. More to come.

HSS, you say? I'm very interested in this combination.

    When do you get it?

I've had the opportunity to play this configuration of the 25ths and Reflexes twice. Loads of great tones both passive and active. You will love it I'm sure. Can't wait for pics.

Congrats on a great score, gives new meaning to tone monster, passive tones are incredible. plus you'll be right at home with the neck minus two frets.

Wow, a really great find Ritch, looking forward to lots of good pics! Is it a flame or a quilt?
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

Very interesting comment. I have a varied collection of vintage Fender, vintage Music Man, and Limited Music Man basses, and I have to say the my 25th 4HH Rosewood neck will be one of very last basses I would ever let go. It is just gorgeous to look at, play, and hear. Marketed properly, these basses should have sold quickly, without discount. I would get one if you can.

The one I got was the Flame top (as the same quilt was running MUCH more), rosewood board... Would have loved a maple board (or the BFR rosewood) but for the price I would be stupid to complain. Ordered at 4 am Sunday, Jack (couldn't sleep and I realized I pooched my Big Al ebay auction). It has yet to ship (from the Hollywood GC) but I hope to have it for the weekend. Now I need to find a hipshot for it and thrown on a set of EBMM straplocks and I am set

They must have. When was looking for something special I didn't even know their Platinum site existed. I bought a standard SR5 in store and then ran across their Platinum section. The store I got my 25th from had it for a long time and dropped the price to move it out so I jumped on it. I have the HH shown in my siggy and it has become my main working bass because of the tone selection and overall great sound.

I have said it before and say it again... The 25th HSS is, in every respect, simply awesome! It took me a lot of money to figure this out but now I am happy

Congratulations. I can't wait for pics.

It has arrived (I know, no picts, no bass - they will be taken tomorrow). It is an interesting beast. The top is an interesting mix... not quite flamed... not quite quilted. I haven't had a chance to really play with it too much yet (the nimrods at GC put the batteries in wrong and forced it closed) but it is different than my Bongos. The size is what was striking to me, compared to the Bongo it is tiny (I was expecting bigger). Now to just fine a pup setting I like
