I'm willing to bet it's an OLP... look closely at the pickup. It has ears.

The guy says the thing's got an OLP neck. The body is probably an OLP also. Note the OLP bridge.

Looks totally OLP to me. What a rip-off!

Not a very Christian thing to do.

I wasn't sure about the bridge... agreed. Major rip-off in the making.

It's got to be an OLP, the string spacing is way too tight for an SR5.

This one ticks me off enough that I reported the auction to eBay Safe Harbor. I suggest everyone else do the same, unless you want to see some poor kid get seperated from his Christmas money!

I have just had a good experience with the dreaded E-Bay, but it wasn't without it's problems. I bid and won a 1988 Red Stingray for just £500 and was a little dubious as the pictures were very poor and you couldn't make out the insignias.

When I asked the guy selling for a serial number he informed me he couldn't find it! - now I was worried!

After several e-mails and the assistance of a couple of guys from this forum it was confirmed as a genuine Ray, and I took possesion of the little darling yesterday and I am a very happy bunny!!!

I guess the point is be very very careful before handing over the cash for a seeming bargain!

Darn, someone beat me to it. Who wants to bet this bass is just a stock OLP? with added pickguard?

    Seller's email response to a question ......

I bought the body online several months ago, the listing was for a musicman body. YOU CAN't BUY SEPARATE BODIES? Where are you from, I have bought tons of bodies that are Musicman, Fender, Gibson, basically any bass ever made. You can buy a stingray body right now here on EBAY for $45. I bought it, and built it. Sorry you feel I am misleading people. Thnks
    Cheers

The original OLP MM3s I've seen (the version with maple fretboards) only came with white pickguards. I've seen some aftermarket OLP pickguards going on eBay though.

He's now added that it's a "Musicman style" body. So if the body is Musicman Style and the neck is OLP then what parts are genuine Musicman? Even the knobs look OLP.
