    Looking to buy a sterling

Ive been looking into buying a sterling bass. I already play a sr4 and am looking to add to the collection. My question is, what are the similarites and differneces playing wise between the two? I know the general specs but how does that 3 way switch sound. Ive never had the chance to play one so i want to ask before i pay. Also is this a good deal http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Says its new but has been in the showroom in a store?

That is a decent deal if it is indeed in like-new condition, but you can find cheaper if you go used with a few imperfections.

A sterling will have a smaller neck and body, IMO making it more comfortable to play. As far as the 3 way switch:

Neck position - Series - In my experience with mine, this has the most mids and punch, and overall best sound. Some say that parallel has the most treble, but i disagree.

Middle - single coil - Just a thinner sounding version of the series, not a great setting really

Bridge - Parallel - This , on mine, seems to have some of the treble bite rolled off. It is good for playing less aggressive tunes where you want to sit in the mix more.
