I am left handed playing right. I don't really feel handicapped by using either of my hands however. I am old enough and been left handed long enough I conform to old left hand standards. Those being use your right hand when you do that!! LOL

Me too. After struggling for years with the lousy selection of left-handed golf clubs, when I started playing bass I decided to play righty from the beginning. At that point, it was no more awkward than it would have been to play lefty. Now, five years later, I've tried and owned a lot of great basses I would not have been able to enjoy if I started out lefty. It's always struck me as odd, though, because playing righty it seems you need more dexterity in your fretting (left) hand than in your right. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong....Originally Posted by Mobay45

Any other question ?

WAYYYYYYYYYYY, too much information thanks.Originally Posted by mike not fat
Yes, it is strange that the less dexterous hand is the one that has to fly around the neck, it's the same for righties too.
Anyway, the handicap is that once you have chosen, either by nature or nuture, to be a lefty you spend much of your time asking the same shop keepers why they still stock so few left handed basses and envying the righties with their unlimited stock to choose from.
But we have the solace that lefthanded people are way more intelligent due to the way their brains work!!!!
Of course, we lefties who play right-handed have already demonstrated our superior intelligence by gaining access to the limitless selection of right-handed basses.Originally Posted by LeftyLB

Hey Moderator,
When are the lefties that play righties gonna be acknowledged by a forum of our own? We demand equality via extra special treatment!![]()

I'm left handed and play right handed. I think that that is the right way to play as the left hand does most of the work. I do shake martinis left handed though
We are making a left handed Bongo for the bass player on the Jay Leno show.We will offer it soon as a rfegular production item

Being left handed doesn't make you special. In fact, what I learned from it was you shouldn't be. Of course left handed folks do rule the world. Probably because they are most capable of compromise. When needed.
I still prefer the left hand when picking my nose.
