Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.

    Very nice dude! Simply awe-inspiring

Edit: Oh yeah, btw, I got a few questions for you Mantaray.

    1) Could you elaborate on your rig / recording method?
    2) Is your Sterling a Maple board or Rosewood one?

    sounds great!

What drum machine are you using? I've been looking for a decent one, and have been considering a Boss dr770, but haven't test driven any, really.

    Thanks

I've found two things that work well. If you don't do programming you can find an old roland personal groove box (I think thats what they are called) for really cheap (I got mine for 25 bucks at a yard sale), but if you do programming with a sampler, Akai is the way to go. Ah sorry for hijacking.

I've got a DR-770 and it is fantastic! You can play realtime or program the patterns.

    Your answers:

1)I recorded my Sterling direct to ProTools. I didn't use any bass preamp, compressors etc. I wanted it to sound as natural as possible.
2)My Sterling is a Maple board. And yes, there's a GREAT deal of difference in sound between the two, provided you use roundwound strings. When slapping, maple really 'shines' !

As for the drum machine, as already stated, I import loops from Reason to ProTools. This beats any drum machine out there.
