Did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for, so:
What's your favorite Bongo color, and which pickguard do you like with it? It's SO hard to tell what the colors really look like from web photos.
The Bongo is giving me serious GAS.
Desert Gold
Lava Pearl
Egyptian Smoke
Sapphire Black
Graphite Pearl
Rolls Burgundy
Carbon Blue
Candy Red

I chose Desert Gold partly because it's the color I own. I do like the color even though I picked up the bass off of Ebay.
Starting to think about returning to bass playing in the very near future.

Plain black with Midopa Custom Shop Algae Green pickguard.

I own an Egyptian Smoke with Python pickguard, so that's what I voted for...
My second choice would be Candy Red with a Black Pearl pickguard.
I want to see Graphite Pearl and Egyptian Smoke together - I can never remember which one of those gives me wood.

I lean towards Desert Gold myself, with one of the white pgs (ice, 'loid or just white), for two reasons:
1) I like the pseudo-chameleon, color-changing nature of that particular paint. Sometimes it looks coppery, sometimes yellowish, sometimes reddish, depending on the light, the background and the angle. Check out psychicpet's photo above to see what I mean.
Also look at the various photos you'll find online and you'll find that you really can't tell what color it actually is in person. Here are two from Bass Central...same color, but the b/g and lighting makes them look totally different:
This one:

and this one:

2) It seems to me that something so outlandish and George Jetsony needs a strong color statement. It's just not a buttoned-down, conservative kind of instrument.
Having said that, I'm very partial to black/tort as a combo for solid-body painted instruments (prettiest Fender I ever saw had that combo, with a rosewood fretboard...only I can't remember if it was a Jazz bass or a Strat). If I went for a SR, it would most likely be black/tort. I'm just not sure about the Bongo.
Stealth doesn't do it for me...too Goth/metal. Flat black guitars always make me think that somebody just took a spray can of flat black Rustoleum and went for it. Cool in its own way, but not classy IMO.

I'm going to have to say that white with tort, or white with Radiation Orange is the way to my heart.![]()
Too bad no one's getting a new one in this color...![]()
Big Al 5SSS Sunburst, rosewood fretboard, tort, EB Flats
Franken-Bongo 5 HHp (The Billy Bass), daphne blue, mint pickguard, EB flatwound strings
Franken-Bongo 5 SHp (aka Moby Dick, the White Whale), black fretted neck with a abalone pickguard, EB Slinkys and a BassMute.
I was moved by Jasons white/tort Bongo fretless. Since white isnt offered anymore, I would say teal pearl. I have been digging that color lately.
