Great thread! I grew up listening to EC and Delaney and Bonnie, and it's great to go back and listen now and remember what a good player Carl Radle was. Just a great roots-rocking feel. Thanks for the stories too BP.

Tom, you ever see one of those Stingray guitars?

With due respect to Leo, wherever he may be, those were not, um, likely to replace EC's Strats.

There's one on eBay right now:

eBay: Rare Musicman Stingray 1 Guitar 1977 (item 120068836336 end time Jan-06-07 04:47:32 PST)

    Ah.

I see what you mean....but EC without a Strat is like....BP in a business suit. It would work, sure, but everyone would point and stare.

    Dusting off the thread...

Speaking of Stingray guitars, check out this clip... there are probably at least three Musicmans up there. George Terry (?) is playing a Stingray Guitar, Carl Radle is hiding behind Yvonne Elliman (or is it Marcy Levey?) with a Stingray Bass and I'm pretty certain Clapton was using MM amps at that point.

EDIT: oops...I was going to wish you a happy birthday, BP, but I knew something was wrong. I thought you already had your b'day this year, and I looked back at the date of the original post, confirming how long ago this thread was.

    Thanks for the story, anyway!

I almost dare the factory crew to build you an LE rocking chair!

Thanks for sharing the story though! It's cool hearing how things came about from an insider's view as opposed to the artist himself or some guy who just writes for money.

    trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

Back to subject .. I remember reading an interview with Carl Radle in a late '70s Guitar Player mag where he stated he was the one who broke up Derek & the Dominoes. I think if he were alive today he'd be sporting a StingRay 5 20th Anniversary bass.
