A Vintage Music Man Tremolo Question

Does someone know if Music Man has changed the Tremolo Block material ? (i call the tremolo block, the block under the tremolo where the strings ball are blocked, sorry but i'm not sure how you call this piece)
i ask this because in my Luke And Axis Super Sport, the tremolo block has got a silver color, and in recent pictures of EBMM, i have noticed the color is gold, so i think it's a different material !
If it's the case, why they have changed ? and can we have the new block ?

I know the Floyd style block is a gold colour (brass maybe?) and I have seen the non locking trems being silver. Maybe that's what you've seen? I'm not sure but I think the FR style trem is a Gotoh.

I'm talking about the non locking trem, because i have seen the tremolo block "gold" in pictures of the Luke, Axis , Silhouette and Petrucci (i have seen pictures of the back of these guitars, and i have noticed that) anyone knows ?

This is a good question, I've just been reading up on 'block material' and it seems there's some factors involving tone. Dense metal vs less dense metal, plus certain impurities like zinc in the steel can alter the tone...perhaps BP or someone can elaborate

Well I just recently recieved my new 2005 Silhouette with the vintage tremolo. It is the golden colored block thingie. I have no idea what it's called either, and it might be brass, not too sure about that either.

The color might not indicate the material type. The block could be aluminum with a protective coating. If so, then the protective coating would make it look like brass.

And don't forget to clean all the lint out of your navel before you play, 'cause that can like totally affect your sustain...

Personally, I think some of these discussions about "tone" can go a long way to revealing dense vs. less dense guitar players...

Are you picking on me again...

Anyway I was simply stating a possible reason for the change...I probably wouldn't even notice if my trem block was made out of crackers
