    Watch out for Black Ice!

After the longest three month wait, my Silhouette Special finally arrived Saturday morning. I chose a visual combination that I don't recall seeing before on this board: Sapphire Black (with matching headstock) and Black Ice pickguard. It doesn't really show due to the cheapo digital camera I have, but when the light hits this guitar it really shines.

I play in a cover band, so the HSS config suits me well. When I plugged it in for the first time yesterday, I played along with the blues show that the public radio station here (kkjz.org) has on weekend afternoons. I was pleasantly surprised at the killer single-coil bluesy tones I got from this guitar.

The only improvement I'm gonna make is removing the pussy .09's the factory puts on and replacing them with working man's .10's.

    Nice Silo.....
"Welcome to the addiction!" is now patented by Koogie2k......if used by anyone other than Koogie2k....you must mail him a US nickel for each time said/typed or signed.......

A WISE AND RESPECTED MAN TOLD ME:

"Do something nice for someone everyday. Don't let your head hit the pillow until you do something nice for someone each day." I hope I don't let him down.

Oh, and another thing. I'm no stranger to EBMM's, (I had a Morse) but the neck on this guitar is unbelievable! It's so smooth it feels like it's coated with Teflon.

    COngrads!
I am debating on which guitar to purchase right now and SILO being a stong possibility, Can you explain to me how a H.S.S. pup config suits well playing in a cover band?
    Thank you, David

Our band has a diverse song list, everything from the 60's to the current day. I used to bring both my Strat and Les Paul, and have them routed via an A/B box so I could switch in a second using the foot pedal. However, it was still a hassle taking one guitar off, putting it on the stand, and reversing the process with the other guitar. I thought "there has to be a better way."

Enter the Silo. If we're doing a Tom Petty or a Springsteen song and I want a bright tone, the single coils come into play. The following song might be a Bad Company or Doors tune that I want a darker, heavier tone. With a flick of the switch I select the humbucker. That's the beauty of the HSS configuration.

LOL...I've been playing .10's for so long that the .09's seem so flimsy in comparison.
