Help with a chipped JP7. Customer Service?

This Friday something horrible happened with my recently acquired JP7...

The chair I was sitting while playing the guitar broke... The part that supports my back snapped loose and I almost fell.

My EBMM slipped from my lap in the process and before I could grab it it hit the edge of my Amp case that was to my right...

Now it has a chip of about 1cm long and 5mm wide on the edge of the body (just over the output jacks).

This is as close to a feeling of losing a loved one as one could get without actually losing a loved one...

So... I wanna fix this and need all the info I could get to make the job near perfect.

Can any of you guys help me out? Should I email Customer Service or will this not be necessary?

    Thanks.

It won't do much good in this case. We do not do refinishing or ding repairs.

I wasn't planing on sending it in for repair... I just need to know what's the best way and what materials should I consider using to repair this.

Anyone had any success doing this sort of thing at home?

i head using clear nail polish in order to prevent more chipping. Besides war wounds give a guitar memories and personality in my opinion good luck with your repair

And to think I was fretting about this ding...

... a few months ago. (It's the tiny pinhead inbetween the neck pickup and switch)

PS - Excuse the pube on the neck pickup

I wasn't really looking for other accident pics but awesome... I feel all warm inside again... Kinda like some AA meeting where you feel better knowing others are in the dirt with'ya.

Random, keep you micro-ding to yourself!!! That's not worthy of this thread. That pube alone is more harmful than a little hole.

Only post chips larger than mine please. =)

Where did you buy the chair from? So I know not to buy any furniture from them in future.

Sorry to see that. I know I'll feel awful when I ding mine for the first time.

    Cool

I found a way to avoid the "first ding blues"........buy one with a few dings already in it. That's what I did. I just bought a JPM 6 off of E*** cheap...had a broken truss rod and two dings too! Just sent it to EB to get a new neck. I like it because i don't have to worry about it getting that 1st ding. Like one of the previous members said...it adds some personality...look at Steve Morse's number 1. It's beat, but it's a beauty.

    Just a FYI
my local Luthier nearly had a head explosion when I mentioned nail polish before to him. It has acetone in it, beware/be careful.
