One time you said one of the things you liked about me was that I called them like I see them. Bunches of OT stuff not stated here.

You are correct again sir. I would put this under the catagory of "Art". There are some very good luthiers out there. I like to encourage people to do what ever they want to their guitars. That makes it truly a custom guitar and yours.

Ah, ok. So you are sold on the Luke neck, then. It is awesome (so is the Y2D, though.)

Well, all I can tell ya is that the answer is no- EBMM doens't run a custom shop. If you want to debate for fun, keep posting. However if you actually want a bit of both, you've got two choices:

Buy both guitars and swap the necks. Sure, you'll have a slight gap but I'm sure you can put a small shim in there or get a luthier to fill in the gap.

Buy a Y2D and, as has been said, shave down the neck. Tommy did this for me on my old Morse, and the neck is incredible. Voids your warranty, but you end up with the neck profile you want.

    Hey Shimi,

Good to see new people on here....welcome aboard.

BTW - Big Poppa = Sterling Ball = owner of Ernie Ball Music Man and all round head honcho (and amazingly nice guy - just in case he's reading ).

I think its time to stop flogging a dead horse though. I'm afraid you cant get the factory to build you the exact guitar you want (if its any consolation I cant get the one I want either - I tried to get a Blue Flame Axis Super Sport with piezo and solid rosewood neck - nothing doing).

Strikes me that buying the Morse and customising it is your only real option - if you let us know where you are then I'm sure we can recommend a luthier who can be entrusted to give the neck a Luke profile.

    Take it easy

    Dave

Shimi, do a search of the forum and I think you'll find you're the first to suggest the idea. What ever you decide to get, I think you'll be more than happy with. My goal is to have one of each. Next question?

Here's the deal with artist models (e.g. Luke, Morse, Y2D, etc.): they're *exactly* what the artists play, and no different. So unless you convince Steve Morse to play with the neck on Luke's guitar, it just ain't gonna happen. (Or if you people really great friends with Big Poppa and he decides he owes you a huge favour.)

As DaveB says, it's just beating a dead horse here. EBMM is not the kind of company that's going to stop and build you a one-off of these models. (You might see a one-of-a-kind guitar for the CLB charity auctions, but I don't think you'll see an artist model done up like that.)

If you like the Luke neck so much, why don't you buy a Luke? It's an awesome guitar. (If your answer is "no", and you still want a mix of two different guitars that EBMM builds for you at the factory so you don't have to get your hands dirty, then I think you're going to be waiting a long time for your guitar ... )

    Hi colin

maybe you right , and its just my imagination that other people want it too.....

or maybe i just jumped to conclusion when i saw the new amazingly beautifull

y2d and i red everywhere else how people get exited from the Luke neck ......

and maybe if ill just try the y2d it will be more than enough for me

probably i wont feel big differences between them after all {the neck spect}.....

actually i red somewhere that the y2d have a slimmer neck & upgraded somehow is it so???

im gonna go soon to Helsinki and try them all and compare them one next to each other

yea ....... im totally not a handy man ........i wish i can get my hands dirty and do it my self but if its a matter of patience - this is not a problem for me

i think as a sells man {in my past} it will be much more easy for me to convince Steve morse to play on luke neck

or to ask Steve that he will resahped his neck to v-shape on his spec'...

Hey guys, lots of fun reading over here

Say, about these artist models: I know Luke is Steve Lukather and Morse is Steve Morse, but who is this Y2D fellow?

And Shimi, get a Luke, mill off the top 1/2", glue a nice top onto there, swap the pickups and you're there!
bovinehost: Yes, I do agree with that, but if there's nothing wrong then there's nothing wrong.
Beth: I would compare Bongo to Tommy Lee Jones. Bad a$$ and just hot in a weird way...
cheezewiz: They should take their lace thongs off and play bass.

    Stingray 5 Classic, coral red
Bongo 5 H, Dargie Delight, in some cave somewhere...
Bongo 5 HH, Black w/ rosewood neck
Heinz The Wonder Bass, going back to Jack...

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......Yngwie?!?!?....HAHAHAHAHAHAH .......

Actually, it is the Steve Morse Artist Model. It is the second one as approved by Steve Morse. It is to celebrate his 20 years with EBMM.....that is why it is the Y2D.
