My 2 cents is that ANY 7 string can be a challenge with a floating trem. I am a 7 player and have been for years, and my experience is not casual. Overall the JP7 bridge is fantastic. Keep playing and breaking that bridge in because if it is new, the spring shock is still happening every time you use it. Most guitar string sets are not balanced tension sets to begin with, and the tension tends to decline with the thicker gauges. This issue is compounded by the fact that the slightest turn of the peg on a low B will bring much more change in pitch than the G, B, E. If you break a string live, especially on a 7 with a floating bridge, have another guitar handy. All the reason in the world to have at least two JP7 guitars! Keep playing Vai licks or Mattias Eklundh style licks and you can break that sucker in proper. I find the low B takes a good 48 hrs to settle in.
Best of luck and enjoy that new 7!

I want to block mine to be dive only, this way I can tune to Drop D easily. Any of you guys do that? For my Charvel SoCal I bought this device from Axecessories called Trem Stop. It was pretty good. What is the device of choice here?

Get a Tremol-No. You can do fully floating, hardtail, or dive only. They're amazing and take about 5-10 minutes to install.

In my recent experience the bridge on my JP6 stays in tune much much better than the stupidly complicated ZPS2 bridge on my RG.

Hey Phil, these work for the JP models too? Not sure why I thought they were only for Floyd guitars....

Yeah - my JP6 holds the tune very well also, easily as well as my floyd Axis' does.

I have it in my dargie for my drop d tuned stuff and it works like a charm, but I can always unlock it and use it as my back up guitar in standard tuning. I highly recommend it.

How many springs does this trem have. My Socal had 3 and I took one off to install the trem stop and it seems to bend easier. Has anyone ever done that?
