    a horrible story.

drummers are making me want to go somewhere and die.

so I come back to the states to record a demo with my former bass player... my axis SS was lost for a day in airline hell - but survived thanks to the best neck construction on the planet and a 30lb. atomic yellow Anvil case.

we reherse for a day. everything going great. ready and set to record god knows what... and suddenly our drummer calls us from another state and says he's going on tour in the northeast with his friend's (are you ready for this...?) Warrant cover band and he won't be at the recording session we've already put a deposit down on. and he wants his part of the deposit back "for condoms and shaving cream." I was too busy scratching my head to be angry.

we manage to find another drummer last night... but she blew off practice (having never played with us before) to get arrested for buying dope from an undercover cop. we're just winning all around. so now the verdict is that we're going to dump the original project in favor of an ambient, david torn-ish, experimental outing where we're going to record bass with guitar loops live with ME playng drums LIVE and putting in guitar lines afterward. I'm freaking out due to the fact that the only reason I'm "playing" drums is because I lost a coin toss.

on the up side, my bass player bought a sterling SUB and it really sounds bloody fantastic. also, this particular axis has flown from tokyo to the east coast 12 times now and has NOT ONCE had any issues with its neck.

folks @ MM: NEVER NEVER change. you guys are perfect.

I remember them well - good fun - What was the B side song on the single called (of Cherry Pie) - man that seems like a long time ago! I think I worked that out on the guitar before Cherry Pie but I can't remember it now!

Nah none of that...we had no music back in the late 80's early 90's but the alternative scene before it became mainstream. I miss those days, especially Orange County CA back in the 90's. That was my scene, crazy as it was and I got the goddamn tats and my wife and son to prove it. Social D forever guys, west side...

I thought uncle tom's cabin was its own single....

I was thinking that an all male "Vixen" cover band would be pretty funny. dear god... or go the totally opposite direction and have a Sugarcubes cover band. but who would play that funny little trumpet, scream into the microphone and pass out from drinking cognac (sp?) on stage?

Drummers are always a problem ...

If you play in a small venue (a small pub for instance), they are taking too much space and they are playing too loud ...
I am seriously considering buying a drum machine for such case.
You can choose the volume ... the drum machine doesn't lose the tempo and doesn't get drunk !

Anybody has some experience with drum machines for playing live

man i HATE using a drum machine live. Even though ive played with some crap drummers, they are better than a machine, if they turn up! Good thing is, if they play loud, my EBMM will go louder, and i want it to!!!!!!!!

C'mon, that'd be easy. Everyone knows drummers can't read.

(Ripley ... bummer of a story!)
