    Reverendripper welcome to the forum!

    nice pic!

That's an Axis Sport you have. The pickguard came with the model originally, and that one is in excellent shape!
That model is discontinued but they are still well saught after guitars.
Now that you have one and have come here, it won't be your last. There's something about Music Man guitars that just makes you want to have more more more.
Stick around and hang with us. This a great forum that has a different flare compared to others. There a lots of famous people that post here.

Not convinced that's a Sport, due to the trem, the top binding & the position of the controls. I'd agree with mcvinyl....an Axis with a Sport pickguard

To make it all more confusing, I thought that the first run of Axes after the EVH also had the option of a pickguard. Just almost no one bought it

    It's a nice Axis!

    Thanks for the info guys.
I'm sure I'll end up getting another in some form. I kinda like the looks of the Steve Morse model. I"ve been addicted to Reverend guitars (USA/Korean made) for the last couple years....hence the name(it's my name on the Reverend forum)....

So...the general opinion is...it's an Axis with an Axis Sport pickguard? Did those pickguards not have the holes for the pickup screws?

If it was a "sport" would it say it on the headstock somewhere? Mine just says "Axis".

Anyhow...all that aside....thanks for the welcome and the info. I'm sure I'll hang out.

I also saw the serial# list that one of your members posted...so going off of that and my serial# G04401, I'm guessing this was made sometime between 98 and 99.

I bought it used from Guitar Center....for $899. From Ebay examples etc...It seems like they didn't rip me off too bad! It's got some paint chips here and there and some scratches...but that's how I prefer them...then I'm not worried about beating them up at a gig!

It is a original guard on a axis (no sport). The pickguard was standard on the solid black. It came in the first year the EVH became Axis. It looks great.

If you post a thread with a subject of "DOB request" with the details of the serial number, one of the guys from customer service will solve the mystery by telling you exactly what model it is and when it was produced. They're great like that here.

BTW forgot to welcome you to the forum.

Thanks for the tip simon...I'll do that.(DOB)

Rod...that would be an example of my long running obsession..
It's a Reverend Jetstream HB (MIK) that I've modified a bit.

I added Grover mini rotomatics and a fender LSR roller nut. I also put on the chrome armrest to immitate the discontinued USA made Reverends(of which I have a few).

They're great guitars.....both the USAs and the new Made in Korea versions

    Inexpensive...high quality...good stuff....with a retro vibe.

    Don't worry, I won't tell Rod!

Yup, it's definitely one of the early Axis' There aren't many of them out there that have the pickguard as well. It's probably from around the 'transition' time '97 to '98 when the original sports came in HH, HSS and SSS and before the pickguards were dropped.

    Looks really good.

I believe that's an old old Framus guitar. My buddy has one with P-90 pickups in it....quite a relic. Doesn't sound as good as my JP though!
