    Played an AL.....

....a couple of days ago. Finally got my friend to brig it down to a local shop.
Boy, boy, boy.....the comfort the sound the light weight, ok that goes under:comfort...hehehehe!
    I was realy pleasantly surprised.
I think he's the only one to have an AL here in Croatia. Well not for long I tell ya!
I played it thru whone of those evil lookin MESA combos and I could get any sound out of it.
The pickups r fairly bright/SSS/ and the bridge pickup is very very usable. Very very balanced in respect to other positions.
I actually wanted to try this guitar because of the neck and I was floored.
I used to own a sillho and I played every MMEB guitar that the shop had, but the guy never orders AL's.so I know how other guitrs feel and that was never IT!
The neck has definitely enough meat and feels very natural. There's no reaching under the neck and over the strings to grab a certain note or position. I play 9's, this guy had 10's and it felt fine, I know it's gonna be better with 9's. Slinkier.

All 'n all I am going to order this one. Its a very beautiful looking great feeling and sounding instrument.
I have 2 problems....the long wait and wich color to choose?
    It's driving me nuts!!!!

The nicest AL's I've seen are:

Blue Pearl with white pearloid (I think) pickguard (tommyindelaware's)

Black Cherry Burst.. (can't remember the pickguard) ... the one that Spud owns.

You've actually got another agonizing choice... S-S-S pickup config, or MM90 'soapbar' types. Both sound amazing!

i'm guessin that the mm90's can oly sound thicker and a bit meaner than the SSS combo, right?

I think Tommy's pickguard is cream coloured.

Anyways, I just had my first experience with an AL on Monday!
    They are great.
After I get my first EBMM Silo, an Al with MM90s will probably be my second!

    Orange Adam,

The MM90's are unique. They have a 'bite' to them that you just can't get from other pickups. They also clean up nicely when you roll back the volume a bit. I'd have to toss a coin to decide the pickup config on an AL because both options are just too damn sweet.

My Black Cherry has the white pearloid pickguard and the SSS covers are white.

I've seen black Al's with a tort guard and black covers which look nice too !

My advice to you is get the Piezo option - I know it's a lot of extra money but well worth it.

I'm so glad you like the AL which has had good "press" on this forum recently.
I love it! - and will probably get an MM90 (and thats it no more !!)

If KBaim remembers() he will be bringing his single coil AL to Vegas and I will get to run a side by side comparison through my rig against my MM90 AL. I will try my best to post a complete review

It won't be until the end of Sept. right before we check out Mr. Jeff Beck at the House of Blues.
