    Music Man SUB R.I.P.

    Kids
It is with sadness that I announce that the SUB is being discontinued. Several years ago when we introduced it we showed that it was possible to make a decent instrument at a reasonable price in the USA. It's just not possible anymore and I dont want to buy bodies from china and assemble them in the USA. Every component of SUB increased that we were losing money on each thath we sold.

We will honor all existing orders at a adjusted price(see your dealer if you have one on order) but effective today we will no longer accept new orders.

I'm amazed at how you're able to keep the prices as low as you do on your other instruments given the costs you have, not to mention being located in beautiful SLO. I understand how business works though and if the Sub has to go, it has to go.

So now My SUB is a "rare" discontinued collectors item!!!!
    Woo Hoo!

So looking to the future. Is there anything up your sleeve to take its' place on the production line? Or perhaps just relief? Until this thread I forgot I had one of these. (It's at my friends house) I need to go update my signature.

I think the SUB line of guitars and basses was wonderful. I sold a few here and there, but believe it or not people would pick one up at the store and then go right for the EBMM at twice the price.

I'm sad to see the SUB line end, but I think it's a good idea.

BTW, I have one Teal HH tremolo SUB here, and a 4 & 5 string bass... Buy them now before they hit ebay as "RARE N.O.S. MusicMan S.U.B."

It's a sad day indeed- let's all think fondly of the Sub. But, business is business and you can't make a product you lose money on.

That is really too bad. I was always amazed how you could put so much into the Sub at that price point.
I guess the good news is that with the Sub gone, that will free up the fine MM craftsmen for bigger and better things

glad I got a Sub----terrific guitar, great price, and nice playability. I love keeping the SUB at work and not having to worry that it's my Luke or my Axis.
