    20th Silo (Koa) Review!

Got the 20th Silo shipped to my door today.

This guitar is something new and different. It does not sound like a Les Paul, and does not sound like a Strat, or anything else really. The first thing I noticed was this guitar is LOUD. It is probably the loudest guitar I have played. It projects and can cut through like crazy. All the notes you play can be heard, anywhere on the fretboard. Near the nut, or high up, you can hear them all. The guitar is very resonant, has tons of sustain, and the harmonics jump out. It has a nice complex midrange, with strong clear treble on top. Lots of dynamics. Very expressive insturment, that makes all the nuances of playing heard. Rewards good playing and punishes bad playing the way a really good instrument should.

    2. Cosmetics: Flawless. Perfect finish, no blems, irregularities, nothing. The Koa top is terrific, much deeper and three-dee and darker than in the photo. I almost hate to bring this guitar to Dallas for fear it might get dinged! But they are meant to play, so....

    3. Playability/Feel: Excellent. Very low action almost no neck relief, perfect fret dress and softened fingerboard edges. All EBMM's are like this. How can they do it on a factory guitar? Great feel, very comfortable. Nice forearm bevel. Nice neck shape. Very solid guitar.

    4. Details: They put a felt strip under lip of the bridge where it rests on the body to protect the top when you use the trem! And the 20th Case is incredible!

    Contrast with Petrucci Guitar:

Another great guitar, the Petrucci has a darker, compressed midrange sound. It has that nice basswood sound. Gets a great vowel sound on solos's. Less highs, less overtones, more crunch. Great neck, wider and a little flatter than the 20th. Both great, and different guitars.
