Rob, if you want to get a good taste of Marillion get the most recent album, Marbles...

Still a Clutching At Straws fan though

The warm web circles arpeggio sounds fnatstic on my ASS with position2 pickup

I'm more of a Fish-era Marillion fan so most of my fav's are from that period.

Here's some of Rothery's finest solos, in no real order:

    1) the intro to "That Time of the Night" right after "Warm Wet Circles" on the Clutching at Straws album... the part over the pulsating bass and drums.

    2) Chelsea Monday from the Script for a Jester's Tear album

    3) "The Web" from Script for a Jester's Tear

    4) the live version of "Cinderella Search" on the Real to Reel album

    5) the opening solo from "Vocal Under a Bloodlight", part of "Blind Curve" on the Misplaced Childhood disc

    6) "Sugar Mice" has a great solo.. Clutching at Straws album

    7) the cacaphony at the beginning of "Hotel Hobbies" on Clutching at Straws

    8) the intro to "King of Sunset Town" from the Season's End album

    9) of course "Kayleigh" from Misplaced Childhood

    10) "Season's End" from Season's End.

Wow.. so much great Rothery.. so hard to choose!

Yes, too bad the studio version from "B'sides Themselves" doesn't have a solo. The solo on the live version of "Cinderella Search" is really fun to play. In fact, I was just playing it last night at band practice with my bass player.
