Wow, I've actually been wanting to buy a pedal steel, but don't really know much about them. I have to assume that if it is an Ernie Ball and it is in good shape, then this may be my golden opportunity. If anybody knows anything about these, please do chip in!

That looks to be in nice shape too.
As I recall, BP mentioned that there was a higher end keyless tuner model made and that may be one of them, or at least I don't see a normal tuner layout.

Another tidbit somewhat related is that BP's granddad, Roland Ball, had a line of lap steels back in the day.
It appears that steel guitar roots run deep in the ball family.

Hey BP, you ever thought of doing a lap or pedal steel of you own?

Lap steels are kick to play. I'd love to see what EBMM craftsman came up with.

I got the bug a while back while watching a Gilmour DVD and ended up building my own. My playing is not worth a crap, but I'm having a ton of fun in the process.
Here is the first one I did http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g9...bend/lap-4.jpg

Thanks all for the kind words, I have had fun making them, plus it was a good excuse to buy some new tools
Many of the old lap steels had a real cool art deco vibe to them and that heavily influenced me in these two builds.

Wa-hoo! I am the new custodian of this classic Ernie Ball pedal steel. I think I got it for a decent price. I can't wait to learn how to play it decently enough to get some cool pedal steel sounds on two new albums I writing for. I actually have some lines composed, but just need to learn how to operate it. Thanks for putting this up here.
