KEEP - nomatterwhat - the neck PU of the SUB1 - unbeatable !
...and add an DiMarzio AirZone Humbucker at the bridge.
There you go - hot enough to drive everything crazy, cool enough to handle highest gain settings

I'm still wondering what the specs of the pickups are on these SUB1s... The neck pickup sounds great both clean and driven. The bridge is not spectacular but it's very good for a stock pickup.

I have absolutely no clue who made 'em and where they're from. They don't seem to be DiMarzios, though. I completely agree on your rating. I still have an AirZone to spare that might well make its way in the SUB's bridge if I don't finish the replacement PG for my Silos soon...

They are some obscure pickup maker from Korea and they sound really good

Axila I respectfully disagree I think that the sub is fair game for modificatons.

    Hi BP,
you're right. After all I had the hell modded out of some of my Balls (mainly the Silo Specials)...
Keeping the original parts though - you never know which direction ones tastes will take one fine day
I'm not yet really into messing with the PUs on my SUB1s at the moment (fine for me), just preparing a black-ice HSS pickguard for a change on the pearl lavender Silo Special for instance... I might try a new bridge PU but would never touch the one in the neck position.
...by the way - I'm so glad you make these EBMM OEM pickguards available aftermarket to us ! (Beth and Musik Meyer as well as fella forumite Mick were really helpful)
    Thanks !!!
    Axel

My sub plays better than anything my local guitar center has right now, and I'm not just saying that. There is absolutely no difference in qulity from the rest of the MM's, it shames every single gibson or fender I've ever touched, including the high dollar ones.

    Best part is it's MINE

    Custom Explorer - White

Just drop by for a visit at my place in Landshut/Bavaria/Germany
We'll have a beer or two while Mick fixes it in half an hour in customshop craftsmanship. OK, wait - probably the fuel prices would not justify a drive from Belgium, but hey - we could still have a beer

Let's put it this way - if you have a trem version and tops of the tuning POSTS are tight, then the string is locked in the post.
