Talking Kind of off-topic, but kind of on-topic.

Well, it's been a long time coming.

I decided just a few minutes ago that it's time for my non-MM guitars to say goodbye. I'll be getting rid of a few, in example a heavy-as-@$*$ Tokai Love Rock. I am also getting rid of my Laney VC50 combo.

Why exactly, one might ask? I have an Axis Super Sport Rosewood coming my way... should be here any day... to cover all of my humbucking needs. I also plan on purchasing a Sil. Spec. with three single coils to cover any twangy issues.

From there, one would ask "what are you going to play through?"... a very good question. I've been trying out amps for the last ten plus years, and in the past few years, I've constantly been coming back to one amp... the Dr. Z. There is something about these amps that just slays every other amp out there... for my personal tastes, that is. I am going to be getting a Stangray and a 2x12 open back cabinet. No more messing around with amps that "could be right". I am pulling the trigger and going for what "IS right"! Then in the time to come, a purchase of a Prescription ES will be in order!

I am going to throw a down payment on the Dr. Z tomorrow, and then in the next couple weeks, do the same with the Sil. Spec. I really like Robert Crays Strat, so I think I'm going to get an Egyptian Smoke Sil. Spec with white pickguard and non-matching headstock in hardtail.

I'll keep you all posted and when the time comes, pictures and soundclips for all!

    Congrats Jimmi!!!!
Joel and Dave should be chiming in regarding the Dr.Zs.
    They're great amps!
I know what you mean about the Love Rocks! They're great for the buck, but is like hanging concrete blocks on your shoulders. I think they're even heavier than LPs!

I reckon you could plug an AL into a toaster and get good tone. Tone machine is the AL.

I hear ya. It's painful to spend a chunk of change on amps when you could be buying more balls ... but really, once you get the right amp you'll never sweat it again. Get a great sounding rig ... soup to nuts ... and be happy.

Seriously??? You are missing out on some great stuff! I love the Z stuff - absolutely fabulous. The Stang Ray is my favorite, by a long shot.

That's what I'm hoping for. Then I can concentrate on more balls!

I believe you are right - Stang Ray is a collaboration 'tween Mr Paisley and Dr Z (also Ken Fischer worked on output transformer)

I didn't sleep a wink last night, from sheer excitement over my rig. I decided everything all the way down to the patch cords! I am going to keep this post short and sweet because I am off to the music store to unload a crapload of gear and start my new mission!

    Wish me luck kids!

i feel ya dude. i have a couple non MM guitars and im always wondering why i still have them. i never play them. one's vinatage so i could/should off it and get another ball or 2.

i remember early on i was wondering if i would ever stick to 1 brand and now its obvious that ive found the company i love. still its a bit tough to off all the rest for various reasons.
