EVH Charvel similar to the AXIS ?

    Hi there,
Just wondering if the EVH Charvels are at all similar to the Axis ?
I tried a Charvel today and wasn't to impressed with it.
    I normally play Les Pauls.
I'm getting a bit apprehensive since I'm just about to bid on Axis on ebay.

    cheers

    Hey Colin,
Were abouts are you located ? I'd love to try and Axis out before I fork over the cash.
Are you in Queensland ? I cannot find anyone in Brisbane with and Axis in stock.

    cheers

Even though i think you would like the Axis, try before you buy is my two cents.

to me the Axis is kinda like got the best of a Les Paul in girth and sweetness and ease of playing of a strat. But better cause of the ergonomics. The Axis neck is to die for IMHO.

I dont think you can say a guitar is a toy cause it is light.
Pick up a high end Suhr made from Basswood or an Anderson, they will all be light i assure you. The Axis is also pretty light so dont think it will be heavier than the charvel. Never played one of those charvels but from what i heard they are a bit heavier than the EBMM Axis??

You are on a EBMM forum here so expect for biased opinions though man. just like anywhere else.
    Better play it first.
just cause i love a guitar doesnt mean that you will as well.

Thanks Tone, your right, we all have our own tastes.

I heard basswood was light but this EVH Art series was really light, nothing like the weight of my Gibson Studio and no sustain. I think I better try one first.

Just have to find one to try pretty rare around here.

    cheers

Had an old Charvel strat; it was neat, had a lot of fun with that guitar. But there's absolutely no comparison to the quality of a Music Man. It's sorta laughable to compare them.

    Hey Bullseye,

Like a few have said, it's an EBMM forum, so the EVH charvel won't get much love here, either will EVH, but thats a whole other story which we'll just stay clear off.

If you are after an Axis, which l'm sure you'll want, get it through Colin, he does super deals and he's a nice cat to boot.

Hey Colin, l fly into Brisbane on March 3rd (although l'm thinking of taking an earlier flight), l hope we can still catch up. But l'll shoot you an email.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

Once you hear the Axis pickups, you'll be sold. Granted, this IS the EB forum, but we're all here because the guitars rule.

Just some food for thought here. You may want to go into this with a slightly different perspective. If you really want a heavy guitar with oodles of sustain and that's your main basis for comparison, you may be looking at the wrong style of guitar. Not many guitars I've played can compare to my LP Custom in terms of shoulder damaging weight and nearly infinite sustain. However, if you want a great playing, great sounding, well made axe, then of course I'd endorse EBMM.
