    Life after Gretsch...

The 20th came yesterday and it is a beauty. It is my 1st Ball to arrive. I had ordered a Vintage Sunburst ASS fully loaded from Jeff and then I started thinking, what am I going to do until it gets here? So I started surfing the net and stumbled across this fine piece of work. The dealer said that it was new (1 of 4) and had not been out for the public to fondle. According to them it had been kept in the case in a humidity controlled room since they received it from EB in Sept 06. Naturally I had to have it. It arrived in the original box in which EB had shipped it to them. They just tucked the flap with the shipping label inside.

I thought the Gretsch had a great neck but this Ball is amazing.

I can't wait for the ASS to arrive as I expect it will be just as nice. Oh, I guess I will have to fess up... I am the knucklehead who bought the white Silhouette Special from Jeff. He has sure taken care of me and my wallet.

Thank you Jeff and Thank you BP!

    Congrats...that 20th is a beauty.

I'm curious though....were there more flamed top 20th's than quilts? Usually everytime I see someone has obtained a 20th Silo lately...they've all been flamed.

    Thanks.

That is a great question and I wondered about it myself. I hope someone can answer it.

I didn't find any quilts out there when I was looking.

I can't wait to see more pics of the white Silo Spec. That's a magnificent piece of guitar.

Edit: I was reflecting that Gretsch sounds a lot like the sound you might make if vomiting and sneezing at the same time.

John Petrucci's worst nightmare is picking so fast that he ends up playing one continuous note.

In general, flame is more abundant. So, I would imagine that there were more flame tops than quilts.

    20th looks great.

No offense, but I do not understand how you can play a Gretsch. I've seen some fairly skinny bodies for them, but most I have seen are very fat

    Glad you made the transformation
In search of an Ernie Ball Musicman Petrucci & some help + thoughts of the guitar.

Well, it was a different time. I bought my Gretsch Chet Adkins Tennessean 43 years ago and I thought it was a great guitar at that time. I still think it is a fine classic but you are right, it is a wide body . From a collector's standpoint I wish I had never sold it. From a player's standpoint I am very happy now.
