    The neck-wood clearly goes through the entire body. Look at the bottom/bridge-side strap-button-end of the body. A set neck would stop right before the neck pickup.

    It's all so clear now...I don't know how I missed that before...and it was so obvious too, especially in the 1st picture from the original post on page one where it shows the sides clearly glued into the neck "plank"

    Just playing devils advocate...the level of distortion that JP is rolling off of his Mesa's, not to mention the sheer volume that he plays at in a concert/studio situation has got to be the key to godlike sustain, no matter what guitar your playing. So i'd guess it's probably not your guitar.
