    MY JP refurb project

People have been asking me what I have done to the JP so far.
    http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...ub-please.html

    Well I have :-
Removed all the white paint paint from the headstock and now it (the headstock) is in all it's "Mystic dream" glory. There were two small paint chips but other than that it looks fine.

    Removed all signs of overspray

Removed the neck from the body.

Removed the truss rod wheel and coated it with teflon based grease.

Gun stock oiled the neck pocket.

Given the rosewood fretboard some TLC and oiled it.

    Polished the frets.

Removed the brass trem block and polished it and given it some TLC.

Rebuilt the trem block with six new Piezo saddles (still to fire it up though!)

I may need a new Piezo Toggle switch as it seems a bit "iffy"

I have taken some pictures of the job so far and will post them tomorrow when I have the lead for the digi cam.

    So far so good !!

    Spud

JP acquired with a lot of thanks to Fsmith and also thanks to GWDavis (with a name like that he must have some Welsh blood in him!!)

Spud - sounds like this restoration is a genuine labor of love. I can certainly relate bro. It's one lucky JP. Can't wait to see the progress pics.

I used 0000 grade wire wool and some 2000 grade wet and dry paper. As the frets are only "polished" they didn't need re profiling. There was a small nick on one of them which polished out ok but I used 400 grade on that fret first then oooo grade wool then some 2000 grade
    w & dry.

I used baby oil on the rosewood fret board.

I have found my Digi camera lead and may have some photos posted before I go to

Here's the Trem block removed showing signs of overspray on the edges

'nother trem block shot showing PCB and the wire leading from the Piezo pre amp - this had to be unsoldered before block could be removed from the guitar

Better shot of PCB showing wires leading from individual Piezo saddles - 'block now removed from guitar

    Trem bits n bobs

Honest guv - it just came away in my hands !!
