    Customized Silhouette

I've finally finished mutilating my 1996 Silhouette custom. Originally, it had Luke electronics and a plain black pickguard.

I replaced the pickups with a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and a Duncan Tele at the bridge. The switch is a simple 3-way Tele replacement switch and the original pots have been replaced with some fancy pots that I forgot where I bought them. I also replaced the tone capacitor. The pickguard is custom made by Chandler, who were suggested to me by EB and who did a fantastic job on this and on one for my Silhouette Special.

The one thing I wanted to do was add one of them there fancy active tone pots, but the Silhouette's body is not deep enough. It's a shame because I have the battery compartment already in place from the Luke setup.

This guitar plays like a dream. The Pearly Gates matches well with this guitar, with a bright sound that distorts well. It's an awesome guitar for rock and hard rock.

    that is really cool.

I dig the Tele neck pickup. wondering how different it sounds since the pickup is mounted to the pickguard and not bolted into the wood.

Jaminjim, I don't know what the tone cap is. A friend is an electrical engineer who dabbles in guitar gear and he put it in.

The Tele pickup is not mounted to the pickguard. It's on a block of wood. The screws are just there to fill in the holes. I just love the sound of the Tele neck pickup and wanted one in there.

I went from being a hardcore EMG fanatic to preferring medium output passive pickups and simple setups. The love of simplicity comes after playing vintage BC Rich guitars with all the taps and tone options.
