It would be nice, but the sales people at my local Best Buys bother me every 2 minutes... it's quite annoying. I wouldn't want that kind of experience when i was trying out some Music Man guitars.....

Yes Virginia, Best Buy sells guitars

The Best Buy in North Dallas sells a variety of guitars and amps. Most of the guitars are Fender, Taylor, Martin and Gibson...a lot of it MIA. They also have some of the lower end Epiphones and Squiers. Their stock is not quite the same as GC. ie. They have several CIJ Fenders that GC doesn't carry. They also seem to carry a lot of MIA Fender amps. They carry the Fender '65 Princeton Reverb. You probably can't find that at GC. That is where I purchased my '65 Deluxe Reverb. They matched GC's 10% off coupon, at the old price too. Their pedals are pretty much the standard Boss lineup along with cheaper pedals. They do carry Boss digital recorders and the various Tascam products like the MP3 and CD trainers. But alas, no Music Man to be seen.

The staff I've dealt with are all musicians who know the product as well as they do at GC. What I like is the availability of back stock. It can be difficult to find an unabused instrument at GC. I was shopping for a cheap MIM Precision and they pulled down three NIB ones for me to check out. All three had poor fretwork so I passed. But I thought it was cool that they had the back stock.

I know that people smirk at the idea of Best Buy carrying musical instruments but I think it's a good idea. Best Buy seems to be a fairly well run retailer. And they have locations everywhere. You may not have had an opportunity to see one of their store carrying the musical instruments and may assume that they are only carrying low end stuff. They don't have much in the way of drums and keyboards, or botique effects. But they do have some nice basses, guitars and amps. The floor space dedicated to musical instruments is probably the size of the typical GC pro audio department.

I doubt that they will deal in trades, nor will they have great sales, but I still think they are a great option. And they will match GC's pricing. Apparently, Best Buy will be converting two more Dallas area stores to carry the equipment. I know that another option is good for the Dallas area. They just need Music Man too.

I think that they could be a good showcase for Music Man. GC carry's the usual line of MM basses but they don't seem to carry much in the way of MM guitars. The north Dallas store only had three. The other stores had perhaps 1-2 each.

OK that's it! I'm moving to Dallas.

I hear you can actually get a good paying job there as well.

I know what you mean about BB, but their music department is different. They will offer to help you but they seem to leave you alone. There's usually only two people working the department.
