Red face JP BFR with rosewood?

    Hey guys,

I was reading the other day, that the JP is available with the rosewood neck, despite the fact that the rosewood necks are BFR. The pictures that I saw looked REALLY nice, but then I started thinking about how, if it was a BFR neck, why are the BFR JP necks finished?

Which brings me to my question: Is it possible to order a BFR JP with the "unfinished" rosewood neck? Or is the neck finish part of the BFR stats and something EB is unwilling to change?

Also, as somewhat of an aside, I noticed that some of the koa JPs came with gold hardware--you can't order ANY colour with the gold hardware, right? Just the Koa?

And finally, I apologize in advance for the "noob" question (afterall, I do own two JPs haha), but are there any choices to be made on the JP BFRs besides the finish and top choice? Because if I recall correctly, they come loaded with everything whether you like it or not.

Anyway, thanks guys, you're always tonnes of help!

    Hey Matt

Although the window for ordering the all rosewood neck instruments has passed, it was possible to order a BFR Petrucci with the all rosewood neck and there are some dealers that ordered them that way. Normally the BFR Petrucci necks are made of mahogany which is why they are finished (mahogany is a very porous wood).

You are correct about the Koa JP and Luke. They are the only two models we offer with the gold hardware. It's part of the whole package with those guitars which also feature mahogany bodies and necks and ebony fretboards.

You are also correct in that the only options when ordering a BFR JP are color and whether you want a flame or quilt top. They all come fully loaded.

Thanks for playing Music Man and don't worry, your questions are good!

Well, I guess that's bittersweet then.

Anyone know of any BFR's that came with rosewood necks? Pictures anyone? Thanks

I saw a JP with a rosewood neck on there, but not a BFR JP with a rosewood neck (maybe I should have clarified). Did I overlook something, or was it the normal JPs with the rosewood necks that you were trying to show me?

I've got a walnut quilt JP6 with all-rosewood neck coming in a week or so. That guitar promises to be stunning

Ah I think I know what you´re meaning... no maple top?

But the rosewood JPs do have the BFR logo at the 12th fret as all of the limited run with the rosewood necks have

    At this thread BP says:

So they don´t have to have a maple top.

Flyer says, every regular production is available with RW-neck and it says that RW-neck = BFR, But yes, you´re looking for a JP with maple-top and RW-neck, right?

    Banjoplayer:

Yeah, that's what I meant-- a JP BFR (which means the different body shape, tone block, etc.) PLUS the BFR rosewood neck. Sorry if I was a bit inarticulate . Thanks for putting that ad up-- the green JP BFR was along the lines of what I was looking for. I'd like to find a JP7 BFR with the rosewood neck, but I'm afraid I might have missed the boat on this one

Thanks very much for the pictures and info though!

I too wish I would have jumped on the standard BFR model with a rosewood neck, they are going to be some rare beasts. I really wanted to go with Emerald Burst. I tried to upgrade my Orange Firemist but it was to late, should be getting that soon though and I know its gonna be booooomb
