Wow, this thread is killing me.....nothing like being told how to re-build your own guitar
you are doing a great job dude...keep up the good work
Wow, I'd virtually forgotten about this thread. My sincerest apologies fellas.
I'm sad to admit I actually haven't touched the guitar since the last update. The weather has become incredibly hot and humid here, leaving the average heat index of the day at a whopping 106 degrees. When it's not raining. As a result, I've been forced to take advantage of the cooler weathered days by mowing the lawn and doing other, sadly, more important things. However, I've been given the name of an autobody shop man who is fairly local. I'll be getting in touch with him soon. I've decided to scratch the idea of priming the guitar myself, as there's no telling what paint he'll want to use. As far as sanding goes, I get the feeling that since most of the guitar is still covered with the nitro celly, my amount of sanding will dramatic decrease. I'm assuming I'll only need to 'fine tune' the areas where I've passed the celly, and into the wood.
Regardless of my slow physical process, the other end of things is developing fairly well. I'll hopefully be making a call to Ernie Ball within the next couple of weeks to order the necessary parts to put the guitar back together.
It would also appear that there will be no Petrucci clinic within a few hours of my home town this year, so getting the guitar signed will be put off for a while I'm afraid. However, this gives me incentive to take my time and not rush the process, though by all standards, I should have been done already.
Even still, I appreciate the constant interest and promise to update you guys soon
Happy late 4th!
