They're 6 and 7 years old. They'd be happy with a cheap plastic thing resembling a guitar...so a Sterling is perfect to teach them how to play on a comfortable instrument. And it's also good to teach them how to take care of their instrument.

Yeah a Sterling would be an awesome intro to owning a guitar or bass.

I just don't know if I have the patience to teach them how to play...otherwise I would have started them WAY earlier...

And I plan on sending them to a teacher. There are a couple good ones in the area.

They're going to be pretty small to handle a full scale guitar. You might want to consider one of the 3/4 scale guitars that are out there. We started my son when he was 7 and got him a LXM martin. He's 8 1/2 now and I'm about to get him a used semi-hollow 24 3/4 scale guitar. He's played enough that he CAN play a full scale, but it's clearly more comfortable with just the 3/4 inch shorter scale.

Pay attention to the weight too. We can handle heavier guitars, but smaller kids can't stand with a strap for very long with them. My son went from my Axis copy back to his martin for school shows because of the weight.

You make a valid point...they do have smaller hands than us. And they can't hold as much weight... Maybe I'll buy one for myself to see if they can handle it

No one at the moment mate, early days , we've got a bigger shipment arriving in June. I'll keep you posted.

I was playing a full scale Ibby at 10, but I can see how it can be harder if youre any younger.

I was playing a full scale Ibby at 12..... a RG7 too.

But then again I hit six feet in the 7th grade. So I guess I don't count.
